Traverse Parenting Leadership Series 2024-2025
Parenting today requires an ability to find clarity in the midst of incredible complexity. As parents we are faced with challenges that did not exist even a few years ago. Political instability, technological advancements, questions about identity, coupled with mental health challenges for our children can make it very difficult to trust our own instincts as parents. And all of this presumes we didn’t bring our own baggage into parenting!
The Traverse Parent Leadership Series seeks to support parents in finding their way to lead children through the complexity of our world. We are honored to support Parents with the following workshops:
Each workshop is presented at the office of Traverse Counseling & Consulting, GBC on the lower level in the conference room.
Times: Each workshop on a Saturday (see specific dates below) from 9-10:30am
Cost: TCC will donate a portion of the proceeds to a partner organization

Parent Leadership in a polarized culture: Leading children through the world of right/wrong, good/bad towards greater acceptance
Date: October 12th 2024
Registration Link: Registration now CLOSED
Our culture has been brewing in bitterness and divisiveness for quite some time. With the upcoming election, polarity and division are increasing by the minute. At Traverse Counseling & Consulting, GBC, we see families (clinically and our own families) impacted by the culture of polarization. The deepening of entrenched positions asks people to ‘pick a side.’ We want to be able to assist parents and communities in navigating interpersonal relationships, families, and neighbors without participating in the deepening of entrenched positioning. In fact, how can we invite people out of our teams/tribes so that we can see the humanity of the “other”? These presentations seek to provide tools for individuals and families to understand the “traps” they fall into and engage in conversation in ways that break the division cycle and invoke curiosity and care.
Learning Objectives:
- Deeper understanding and appreciation for how we arrive at our differences.
- Greater insight on the impact that polarization has on individuals and families.
- The difference between high conflict and good conflict.
- Why and how we get “hooked” into high conflict that perpetuates division in our relationships.
- Learning tools for navigating these differences in family, friendships, and coworker relationships.
